WP Questions has a 9% refund rate. That rate has been stable for almost a year. About 1 of every 11 questions is refunded. Up till now, we have handled this in an ad-hoc manner: the person who asked the question writes to us, we look at their question, and then we usually send them a refund.
Now we are automating some aspects of refunds. Hence forth, an asker can click a link, and write the reason they think they deserve a refund. Their reasons are made public. The experts have 24 hours to challenge the refund request. If the refund request is unchallenged, then the refund is sent automatically, at the end of the 24 hours. If the refund is contested, then we will examine the question and its answers.
If you are the owner of a question, and you are logged in, then you will see these links under your question:
If you click “Request a refund” then you will see this form:
If you fill in
that form, then your explanation will appear under your question, like this:
If you are an expert, and you feel like the question was answered, you can click “post your reasons” and you will see this form:
Once you’ve posted your reason, it will appear on the page where the whole debate is shown:
(Please note that although I’m using a real question in this example, that question was in fact excellently answered and I had no reason, in real life, to request
a refund. )
